FAQ about Academic Advising

Advising Appointment

How can I make an appointment with an advisor?

Please first reference this FAQ to see if your question can be answered below. If not, you can schedule an appointment through the Advising Appointment Scheduling System.

Can I speak with an academic advisor for a quick question if I don't need a full advising appointment?

Drop-In Advising is perfect for a quick question. Yes, you may join an advisor during Zoom Drop-In Advising for a quick question. AAC hosts Drop-In Advising sessions twice each week via Zoom. Visit the Academic Advising Center Canvas page for dates and times, or stop by the AAC for more information.

Faculty Information

Registration

Where can I check my PIN for course registration?

The following students need a PIN for registration:

  • New students
  • First-semester students
  • Students with the academic standing of Academic Warning, Probation, Extended Probation, or Recovery
  • Non-degree students

To get their PIN, students must communicate with the advisor to demonstrate a sufficient academic plan for registration. Once approved, advisors will share the PIN via email.

(Note: Students on Academic Probation, Extended Probation, and Recovery do not receive their PIN. All registration changes – add, drop, and withdrawal – must be processed by their advisor.)

If you need a PIN for registration, it will be emailed to you by your advisor after your academic plan has been approved.

I have already completed the prerequisites for the course. How do I register?

Please email your advisor so they can review your record and remove the prerequisite restriction, if appropriate.
