Admissions Information

Thank you for your interest in Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ). Please follow the steps outlined to complete your application for admission and, if needed, the Japanese student visa application.

Students applying to TUJ cannot concurrently apply for admission to the Temple University Main Campus in Philadelphia.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR

TUJ operates on a three-semester academic year based on the U.S. academic calendar. Fall semester is from late August to December. Spring semester is from January to April. Summer semester is from May to August.

ROLLING ADMISSIONS

Upon completion of an admissions application (application form and all required documents), prospective students typically receive an admissions decision within four weeks. Prospective students are encouraged to apply for admission well in advance of the deadline.

ADMISSION STATUS

Students are admitted as one of the following:

1. Matriculated students

Students intending to complete a degree from Temple University.

2. Permanent non-matriculated (non-degree) students

Students who plan to take fewer than 30 credits at TUJ without earning a degree from Temple University (includes summer-only and visiting students from other universities).

3. Conditional non-matriculated students

Degree-seeking students who are conditionally admitted as an undergraduate student (includes Bridge Program students).

Waitlisted Students

Students who are placed on the waitlist may later be reconsidered for admission. Details will be included in the original admission decision letter.

Notes:

  • Conditionally admitted students will matriculate upon successful completion of the terms of their acceptance. All other non-matriculated students must apply for matriculation if they wish to complete more than 30 credits at TUJ.
  • Accepted students will be allowed to defer enrollment up to three semesters past their original semester of admission without being required to complete a new application for admission. Students who wish to defer to a future semester must notify TUJ in writing of their intention. Any TUJ merit scholarships awarded will be forfeited. Students will be reconsidered for merit scholarships if they selected 'yes' to merit scholarship consideration on the admissions application form and defer before the relevant scholarship deadline for the semester they are deferring to.
  • If students are unable to complete any stage of the admissions process (including the visa application) in a timely manner, TUJ reserves the right to cancel or defer their admission.
  • More information on high school diploma and required credits can be found here.
