American Studies Department (College of Liberal Arts)

The major in American studies provides students with a solid understanding of the culture of the United States through courses drawn from different topical areas. Topics include work, technology, and the role of the media and the arts. A wide variety of courses explore American ideas and ideals, the cultural geography of the United States, the diversity of America's people, American's means of expression through media and the arts, and U.S. gender issues. The American studies program offers students the opportunity to design a program of courses to suit their individual interests.

Business Management Major Requirements

The degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) may be conferred upon a student by recommendation of the faculty and upon the satisfactory completion of a minimum of 123 semester hours of credit with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 overall and in the major. A minimum of 123 credit hours will be earned in the following four requirement categories:

B.B.A. Lower Division Foundation Requirements

Six business courses (18 semester hours) and eight non-business courses (25 semester hours) are required as part of the lower division foundation requirements.

Notes:

1. Higher level QA & QB courses may be recommended depending on the mathematics placement score or the student's intended major.
2. In order to graduate, a grade of C- or better must be obtained in all FSBM lower division requirements.
3. Many upper-division foundation courses and major courses have prerequisites. Some of these prerequisites also include grade requirements. Students are required to meet all prerequisites. The School reserves the right to de-enroll students from courses when prerequisites have not been met. Prerequisites will be strictly enforced. The majority of the major course work, as well as all prerequisites, must be completed prior to taking the capstone course for the major. Students not meeting the requirements for the courses they enroll in may be de-enrolled from those courses.

B.B.A. Upper Division Foundation Requirements (limited to juniors and seniors)

Six business courses (16 semester hours) are required as part of the upper division foundation requirements.

A minimum of nine business courses must be completed in the major, which is comprised of the courses below:

4. If Law and Business 3562 (formerly 0106) is taken, it will satisfy one law elective and the International requirement; you will need to take two business electives.
5. Satisfies technology requirement for the major.
6. If Economics 3563 (formerly 0250) or 3564 (formerly 0251) is chosen to satisfy the International requirement, you will also have satisfied the 3501+ level Economics requirement. You will need to take an additional business elective to complete the nine courses required for the major.

Electives

Students who have satisfied all of the requirements listed above may need to take additional credits to achieve the 123 credit minimum required for graduation. These credits may be taken in either business or non-business courses.

Business Minor Requirements

The business minor is designed to provide students with a foundation in the primary functional fields of business and management and is an excellent minor for students majoring in economics. By taking a set of carefully selected courses, students can better prepare themselves for their careers after graduation while pursuing the major of their choice.

Students must complete 8 courses to earn a minor in business.

In addition, students must receive a grade of C- or better in each course and achieve a minimum GPA of 2.00 to earn the minor. A minimum of 5 of the 8 required business minor courses must be completed at Temple University.
