Outline of the Internship Program at TUJ

At TUJ, students intern at your organization as part of their academic curriculum (i.e., register for a credit bearing course). Organizations can announce these positions approximately three months in advance of the start date to ensure that students can register for the internship by the start of the upcoming semester (please see our Academic Calendar). Eligible applicants for credit internship positions are third and fourth year students in good academic standing.

We are currently looking for internship sponsors for our Fall 2025 semester (September 1 - December 10)

Please  us by June 1 if you are interested. If you are looking to fill your position earlier than the fall semester, please consider submitting a part-time job announcement.

Criteria

There are three sponsorship criteria for credit internships. Your organization must be able to:

  1. Allow the intern to work for at least 140 hours per school term (please see our Academic Calendar)
  2. Sign an Internship Memorandum of Understanding *
  3. Agree to complete an evaluation* of the intern at the end of the internship period

*A sample will be available to you upon initial contact.

Process for Hosting an Intern

1.Initial Contact

 the Career Development Office.

2.First Meeting

After receiving your inquiry, we will arrange a meeting to discuss internship needs and procedures in more detail. At the meeting, we will discuss the schedule, the content of the internship duties, and the criteria for student applicants. If a face-to-face meeting is not possible, we will go through the details on the phone or in e-mail.

3.Announcing the Position to Students

Submit an announcement that will be released to students approximately two months before the semester of the internship. Following are the general schedules of each semester (please see our Academic Calendar for the exact dates).

  • Fall Semester: end of August - beginning of December
  • Spring Semester: beginning of January - mid April
  • Summer Semester: beginning of May - end of July

The Career Development Office will announce the position to students. The announcement template can be found below.

4.Memorandum of Understanding

We will ask you to sign a one-time "Memorandum of Understanding" before releasing your internship announcement to our students.

5.Receiving Applications from Students

Students will apply with an English resume and cover letter. You will receive applications through the TUJ Career Development Office, not directly from the students.

6.Intern Interview

Internship hosts have the option to interview students and decide whether or not to offer them an internship position. Interviews can be arranged through the Career Development Office or directly between the hosts and students.

7.During the Internship

The TUJ faculty supervisor will check in with the intern students regularly to keep track of the students' progress and performance.

8.After the Internship

The internship evaluation will be sent directly from the TUJ Career Development Office to the internship supervisor at the end of the semester. The host will return the evaluation before the final day of the semester.

Note: if your internship position does not receive any applications, we can (with your permission) re-release your announcement as a non-credit internship. A non-credit internship is essentially a volunteer experience and there is no official involvement with the university. All students are eligible to apply.
