The “English Skill-up Course (every Spring and Summer) ” offered at Academic English Program at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ) is open to current high school and university students. The Spring program will be open for those who will be advancing to high school or university for the next school year as well. University seniors who are scheduled to graduate in March are also welcome to join.

The program aims to improve reading, vocabulary, listening and discussion skills and is taught differently from the usual English classes in Japan. The class will be taught by TUJ Academic English Program (AEP) instructors and will be conducted entirely in English. All high school and university students are encouraged to participate, especially those who are thinking of applying for TUJ, those who are thinking of studying abroad in the future, those who want to experience an American university-style class, and those who want to study English intensively during the school breaks.

Contents and Features

• Students will increase their vocabulary through reading activities, improve their listening skills through analyzing videos, and improve their speaking skills through discussions.
• Students will be able to experience a "participatory class" with group work and other activities centered around the student, which is a characteristic of American university classes.
• TUJ Undergraduate students from around the world will participate as teaching assistants (TAs), allowing students to have more opportunities for English communication in class. There will also be a TA Session every day to allow for further interaction between the students and the TA.
