This program offers the basic academic English skills that are required at universities and graduate schools in English-speaking countries. The schedule is designed for high school graduates and above who can take classes during the day. Students may even choose to take just one class (12 hours per week in Spring and 6 hours per week in Summer and Fall semesters).

Course Overview
High School graduates and above are eligible for this course.
*3rd grade high school students can take this course in the Spring semester.
The program is best for those who want to:
- Enroll in the undergraduate or graduate programs at Temple University, Japan Campus (TUJ)
- Prepare to study abroad at a university or graduate school
- “Study abroad” while in Japan, or who want to experience study-abroad
- Prepare before studying abroad in a foreign country
- Follow up after studying abroad
- Obtain a job at a global company
- Learn not only conversational English but also advanced reading and writing through “Academic English”
*This program is designed for students who have test scores higher than TOEFL iBT 32, IELTS 3.5, TOEFL ITP 400, Eiken Grade Pre-2, or the equivalent English proficiency. If you do not have one of the above scores, you will need to take a brief test and counseling administered by the AEP staff, which takes a maximum of about 30 minutes, to confirm eligibility to enroll in the program.
- Students can take AEP classes both online and on campus for one semester and can expect to improve both academic and daily conversational English skills, as the official language at TUJ is English.
*There is also an online-only course available. - Classes are customized for non-native English speakers and conducted in the American university style. These classes also cover "Academic Skills" that are not typically taught in actual American university courses.
- Classes are taught by instructors with master’s and/or doctoral degrees.

This course offers the basics of academic English skills that are required at universities and graduate schools. Classes will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00am to 1:00pm or 2:00pm to 5:00pm (Each schedule includes a 10-minute break). The actual class will be determined based on students’ levels.
Reading-based Writing (RbW): (6 hours a week)

Summary:
This is a customized version of the writing class for Liberal Arts courses at Temple University, Main Campus. Students read articles about social and current issues and texts from fiction and write essays based on them.
In this class, students:
- Learn the types of compositions, linguistic expressions, and the vocabulary of academic writing.
- Learn logical structure while experiencing the process of outlining, drafting, and revising essays.
- Complete essays based on the texts that they read to match the assignments.
- Write 2 to 3 essays per semester.
AEP General Education (AEP-GE): (6 hours a week)

*The contents of the classes on each schedule are different and you may take this class with both schedule options, which is considered taking two classes.
Summary:
This is a customized version of the General Education Liberal Arts courses at Temple University, Main Campus. Examples of subjects offered in the past include Eating Cultures, Advertising & Globalization, and Youth Cultures. Classes are conducted in the same flow as those on the main campus, in the order of preparation, lectures, discussions, research, and presentations.
Guided Independent Study (GIS): (6 hours a week)
Schedule Options:
1) Tue. (in-person) / Wed. (online) 14:00-17:00
2) Thu. (in-person) / Fri. (Online) 10:00-13:00
*The contents of the classes on both schedules are the same.
Summary:
The other two classes (RbW and AEP-GE) are conducted with a given subject and reading materials, but in this class, each student can choose the subject of study based on their major, specialty, interests, etc. During the semester, students research according to the instructor’s guidance, make presentations based on the research, and write essays. The subject of study can be chosen from all fields of humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.

Online Only Courses (12 hours a week, Wednesday & Friday)
To provide more flexible learning options, AEP Day Program (Study Abroad in Japan) provides both hybrid (in-person/online) and fully online schedule options accessible from anywhere in Japan and around the world.
The online only course is recommended for those who live far from our campus or who wish to take classes only delivered with online format. Each option is all online for a total of 12 hours a week from 10:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 17:00 on Wednesdays and Fridays. You may choose one of the following schedule options.

- 2. Reading-based Writing (RbW) Wed. 14:00-17:00 & Fri. 10:00-13:00

College Prep Package for English Learners New
AEP is now offering a package of two courses, “AEP Day Program (AEP-General Education Reading-based Writing)” and a Saturday “TOEFL ITP® Test Prep Coursee” to help those striving to improve their overall English skills to the level where they feel ready to succeed in TUJ’s Undergraduate Program including the Bridge Program while a 20% discount is applied to the total course fees.
