About MiM Program

What is the difference between the MiM and MBA?

The Master in Management (MiM) provides overall management knowledge. The duration of the program is generally one year. MiM students typically are recent college graduates and have limited business or work experience.  The MBA provides theoretical and practical training for business or investment management and is usually a two-year program. The typical MBA student has several years of work experience in a business-related field.

Is the MiM program offered online or in-person?

MiM classes are offered only in-person.

When does the MiM program start?

MiM classes start in August every year with a one-week mandatory orientation.

Eligibility

I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and no business background. May I apply?

Yes. The Master in Management (MiM) program is designed for students from all backgrounds with no or limited work experience. No business study nor work experience are required to apply.

I have a three-year bachelor's degree. May I still apply?

If you have completed a three-year bachelor’s degree, it needs to be followed by a master’s degree OR a postgraduate diploma. Please see degree requirements by country

I am going to complete my undergraduate degree in the summer semester. Am I eligible to apply?

Yes. Please submit your official academic transcript when you apply and again once you are accepted and have completed your undergraduate degree.

My GPA is below 3.0. May I still apply?

Yes. You will need to submit either a GMAT or GRE test score when you apply.

Is Japanese language required to apply?

No, all MiM courses are taught in English at TUJ, so Japanese language won’t be necessary. However, having the language skill will be beneficial for finding an internship and career opportunities if you wish to work in Japan after graduation.

Application

How do I apply?

All application documents must be uploaded to the application portal site . The admission committee at the Fox School of Business will review them first. Once the committee confirms its completion, you will be asked to pay the application fee. Upon payment, we will set up an admission interview (either online or in-person). MiM will share the admission interview results with the Fox School of Business admission committee and finalize the decision. The admissions process will take approximately 4-6 weeks after you submit your complete application.

Can I have the language proficiency test requirement waived?

Applicants who completed an undergraduate degree in the United States or other English-speaking country are waived from the English-language testing requirements. These countries are listed on required application documents page .

Is there a preference in recommender? Should they be academic recommendations or is employment-related recommendations also suitable?

Either is suitable. We prefer a recommendation letter written by those who know you well in an academic or professional setting. We don’t accept letters from personal connections such as family members or friends.

Scholarships

What kind of scholarships are available?

The MiM program offers three kinds of scholarships: Early Admission scholarship, Global Leaders scholarship, and Temple Alumni Rewards. Please check financial aid page.

Does TUJ offer a full scholarship? Or may I use the MEXT scholarship?

No, a full scholarship is not available. TUJ is an American University, so the MEXT scholarship cannot be used.

Visa

Can TUJ sponsor my visa?

Yes. All non-Japanese students who do not have a resident, diplomatic, dependent, spousal or other type of visa must acquire a Japanese student visa through TUJ. TUJ will submit the visa application documents to the Japanese Immigration Bureau on your behalf. Students cannot apply for a Japanese student visa independently.

Housing

Does TUJ provide housing on campus?

TUJ dorms are for undergraduate students. MiM students are responsible for finding their own accommodations. The MiM program provides information on housing options and how to find them through English-speaking realtors/properties.
